So right about this time 2 years ago Grammy (my Mom) and I took Taylor to get her ears pierced and this afternoon, Grammy and I took Caroline. I was so lucky with Taylor as she fell asleep on the way to Merle Norman. The two lovely ladies were able to determine the right spot for the earrings while Taylor peacefully slept in her car seat. She woke up screaming once they pierced her ears but once her paci was back in Taylor was fine; I didn't hear another whimper from her! Wow I got lucky...So I was just hoping the same thing would happen with Caroline b/c sometimes she will fall asleep on the ride home from daycare. I picked Caroline up this afternoon from Village Kids a little before 5 and thought for sure she would take a cat nap on the ride over to Merle Norman. Nope, Caroline wanted to keep it interesting as she chatted the whole way. She was wide awake once we arrived. The same two lovely ladies that pierced Taylor's ears also did it for Caroline. They are wonderful! Unfortunately I had to hold Caroline in my lap with one hand holding her forehead. Luckily for Mommy and Caroline the whole process lasted only a couple of seconds. Of course she screamed but that too didn't last too long either. I placed her paci in her mouth and hugged her close. Soon enough she was all smiles again. She looks adorable in her new earrings--Thanks Grammy!!
I will post pictures soon. Of course I forgot to bring my camera to Merle Norman and I didn't get any tonight at the house. Caroline was ready for her bath and bed!

Feeding time...
So I am still trying to get little Caroline to eat her cereal, fruits and veggies! Rob and I just don't know what to do with a child that doesn't want to eat. I mean we have never had this issue with Taylor! :)
Some days she likes the rice cereal and other days she just gags on it?! I think the only thing other than cereal that I found she will eat is bananas. We will keep trying but I guess we have a picky eater on our hands. I must say she LOVES her bottles. She gets so excited, starts kicking her legs and making cute little sounds when she sees her bottle.
As you can see from the pictures below she would much rather play with the bowl than eat the cereal!

SNOW DAY!!!!
Yes we finally got a real snow day in North Carolina! I often talk to my sister in CT and they have been hit hard by snow storms this year. I am sure they would just laugh at our 4-7 inches...although I am SURE my sister Kerri would love to only get 4-7 inches!!! She is a real trooper as I just don't think I could handle the bad cold weather they experience this time of year.
Taylor was really excited about the snow when she woke up on Monday morning. She wanted to go right out and play. Since Rob had to go into work I was able to hold her back until around 9 or so when most of the other neighborhood kids were out playing. Caroline and I watched from the front door (in the nice warm house!). I was able to step out on the front porch a couple of times and capture Taylor's first real snow. She seemed to enjoy it; maybe next time we will have a sled or something to go down all the hills in the neighborhood. Taylor seemed so warm in all of her gear and I just laughed as she reminded me of the little boy in the Christmas Story all bundled up!

Bounce!
This past weekend the weather was just nasty here; it rained the entire weekend and was extremely cold. Rob and I decided to take Taylor to BounceU on Saturday morning to keep her entertained, release some of her energy and get her out of the house. I think she had a great time. She didn’t want any help going up the big slide or getting into any of the bounce houses. She is so independent these days! (Actually she is a great climber and there were staff members at the top to help if needed so we weren’t too worried about her) Taylor loved it and wore her out…I think it helped us get her to take a nap later on too! Caroline sat so peacefully in her car seat and drank her bottle. She loved looking all around at all the action...yet another nosey McKay girl!!

Little Caroline..such a big girl now holding her own bottle!

The girls are growing up!
I can not believe it!!! Taylor is 2.5 and Caroline is 6 months old! Oh my where does the time go? Taylor is not our baby any more. She is talking up a storm and makes us laugh all the time. Yesterday we were on our way to CVS and she was in the back with one of her books when she proclaimed, “Momma this book is driving me bonkers!” I had to ask her again what she said as I thought maybe I was just hearing things. Sure enough she repeated herself and that is what she said. Then last night after I read Taylor her bed time books I heard her usual cries from underneath the door, “Mommy, Mommy!!” When I finally went back into her room to settle her down and lay with her for “2 minutes” (her favorite requested length of time that we lay with her?!) I found her on the floor with her baby doll in hand and her bed was a mess! Her sheets were a mess and all of her stuff animals looked like they had been thrown all over her bed; obviously she had been making a ruckus! Then she looked up at me and said, “Mommy my animals are being crazy! They were on top of my baby doll!!” I mean where do they get this stuff?! She is certainly using her imagination these days and keeping us entertained and BUSY!
Caroline had her 6 month check up on Monday. Right now she is rolling everywhere, smiling and laughing all the time and making those cute baby sounds. She is a happy baby! She weighed in at 13lbs. and 4 oz. She is only 7th percentile in her weight...we are trying to fatten her up with more calories!! She loves her formula but doesn't seem to care about veggies or even fruit?! I am just going to keep trying to get her to eat. At first she wasn't interested in the cereal and now she has her mouth open before I can get another spoonful. I know in time she will get it all!
We are just trying to treasure these moments because it is crazy how fast time goes by! They are two sweet girls that we have been blessed with to love and nurture.
Can't beleive two and half years have gone by...Here Taylor is at 1 week

Already SIX months have flown by...Caroline at 1 week too (2 years later)

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
On Friday Taylor's class had a Valentine's Day party and a dance. The kids were all nicely dressed right before the party (hence the plastic bibs they all have on--they usually never wear bibs--also why I go through bottles and bottles of Zout; the best stain remover ever!!)

Rob had just gotten to VK and Taylor was so excited that Daddy made it in time for the dance!

All the kids were given an early Valentine and were eating heart lollipops.

Right before the dance, I was able to capture Taylor and one of her boyfriends, Jacob. They have been in daycare together since they were infants and have such a special sweet bond!

Taylor was fascinated by the disco ball when she first hit the dance floor. Check out the cute boy in the bow tie behind her...that is Aiden, her other little boyfriend.
Taylor LOVES to dance!

Caroline's class didn't have a party and obviously couldn't join in the dance this year but I was able to capture some smiles from her today. As Rob said this morning, she is his "littlest Valentine"...precious!

Over the weekend...
We have been having LOTS of issues with getting Taylor to fall asleep lately. She just fights going to sleep every night and usually at nap time on the weekends. I am really not sure what to do about the issue as it just started about two months ago. (ANY and ALL suggestions are welcomed!!)
So on Friday night Rob and I were able to bribe her into staying in her bed and going to sleep. We told her that if she went to sleep like a good little girl then she could go to her cousins soccer game and over to their house. Although if she misbehaved we told her she wouldn't be allowed to go. Luckily for us that night she didn’t put up too much of a fuss!
Taylor spent the night out with her cousins Ellie, Aiden and Skyler! Taylor was super excited on Saturday about going to the soccer game that afternoon and then spending the night with her cousins. I think they had a great time although Taylor was pretty tired on Sunday. Of course she refused to take a nap although she desperately needed one…obviously from the picture below so did Daddy.

Caroline has been doing so well the past week or two with her cereal I thought that she might be ready for some veggies. I started on Monday night with green beans. Well Caroline did not like the green beans at all. She started to gag and then wouldn’t even finish the rest of her cereal! I put the veggies on hold and will try again in another week or two with another type of vegetable
